Gifford working as a supply chain partner to Costain has been appointed structural engineer and will provide a range of other services for a new rehabilitation facility for St Georges Hospital in Lincoln.

The project is being funded under the NHS ProCure 21 procurement scheme for the Lincolnshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust. The newly-built facility will provide three medium/high dependency rehabilitation wards with ancillary facilities including a gymnasium, café and office space.

An inter-disciplinary team from Gifford will provide structural and geotechnical engineering services as well as specialist environmental and traffic and transport advice. Gifford services may be expanded to cover flood risk assessment, ecology, noise and air quality for the project.

Subject to confirmed pricing and final approval of the business case for the new facility, work on the £14 million project is expected to start in the autumn.

Gifford is already working on three other healthcare capital investment projects under ProCure 21.
