HMS Collingwood

A new junior ratings kitchen and dining facility incorporating retail and leisure facilities with the HMS Collingwood Maritime Warfare Training Complex at Fareham, Hampshire.

A bespoke project, the building provides the junior ratings with all their leisure facilities within a single complex. It comprises a new state-of-the-art kitchen, food preparation and office areas, an open plan spacious dining room and bar area, coffee and snack zones, internet facilities, a gaming zone, hairdresser and laundry.

The building incorporates sustainable waste discharge tanks and meets the Royal Navy’s aspirations of an Excellent Rating when modelled through the Defence Related Environmental Assessment Method (DREAM).

Gifford was appointed as Lead Consultant and undertook design management, structural engineering, mechanical engineering, geotechnical and environmental investigations, topographical surveys, DREAM modelling and SBEM calculations.  

We also appointed and managed the architect, kitchen and bar designer and underground services trace sub-consultants.
